Jan Drlik, MD, FACEP, was raised in the mountains
of northern New Mexico. He attended the
University of California, graduating with honors.
He graduated from medical school at Washington
University in St Louis, Missouri where he
met his wife, Laura, a physical therapist and
Michigan native. He then completed 3 years of
advanced training in Emergency Medicine at St
Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
While there, he served a year as Chief Resident
and flew in their helicopter rescue program. He
earned board certification in Emergency Medicine in 1991 and moved to Midland in
1992 where his young family could be near his wife's family.
Dr Drlik practiced emergency medicine in Midland for 15 years at MidMichigan Medical
Center where he served as Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and
enjoyed teaching family medicine residents. He continues to serve as the volunteer
Medical Director for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program at the hospital and on
its Infection Control Committee.
Dr Drlik became interested in medical procedures and undertook extensive training to
develop new skills. He is particularly interested in new aesthetic procedures, especially
those involving lasers, which can decrease the signs of aging. He hopes to bring
colonoscopy to the office setting in Midland in the near future. He began his association
with The Medical Procedures Center on October 1, 2007.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a Member of the
Michigan State Medical Society and the Midland County Medical Society. He is also licensed
to practice medicine in New Mexico.
In his free time, Dr Drlik enjoys snow skiing, boating and other outdoor activities with his
wife and three daughters. His daughters are very involved in performing arts including
choral music, marching band and theater. He and his wife enjoy attending their performances
as well as their sports activities.
